The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers specializations in Manufacturing, Fluids & Thermal Engineering, and Design. Manufacturing Engineering focuses on optimizing production processes like machining and additive manufacturing, ensuring efficiency and quality control. Fluids & Thermal Engineering deals with the behavior of fluids and heat transfer, applying principles to systems such as HVAC and renewable energy. Design Engineering emphasizes the creation and optimization of mechanical systems using CAD tools, integrating aspects like materials selection and structural analysis. Students in these specializations gain hands-on experience through projects and internships, preparing them for careers in industries such as automotive, aerospace, and manufacturing, where their skills in innovation and problem-solving are highly valued.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at National Institute of Technology, Arunachal Pradesh was established in August 2013. The department offers four-year degree B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with an annual intake of 40 students. The Department is also offering PG programme (2 years M.Tech.) in Fluids and Thermal Engineering with an intake of 20 students since July 2019. It has also initiated research programme leading to Ph.D from 2015-16.
