The Department of Civil Engineering started in the year 2013 with an annual intake of 30 students.
Civil engineering is mother of all engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works like roads, bridges, canals, dams, and buildings. Civil engineering is one of the oldest engineering disciplines. It is traditionally broken into several sub-disciplines including environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, geophysics, structural engineering, transportation engineering, earth science, municipal or urban engineering, water resources engineering, materials engineering, offshore engineering, quantity surveying, coastal engineering, surveying, and construction engineering. Civil Engineering persuades through all the levels in the public sector – from municipal administration through to national government, and in the private sector from individual homeowners through to international companies. The objective of the department is to prepare students competent and qualified enough to take up any Civil Engineering challenges and to be able to pursue advanced studies and research in Civil Engineering on a competitive global perspective. The mission is culmination of departmental team effort to meet the goals of (full) Arunachal Pradesh, North Eastern region and the Nation at large. The Department strongly believes in continuous efforts to strive for excellence by exploring new frontiers of knowledge, imparting the latest technical knowledge to the students and conducting high quality research.
It also houses different audio-visual facilities as modern aids of teaching. The department is equipped with latest facilities and equipments for extensive training. The profession of Civil Engineering has ample scope in a wide variety of engineering tasks involving planning, design and execution of the infrastructural facilities viz. buildings, dams, bridges, canals, tunnels, highways, airports, harbours, etc. Our specially developed curricula focus on various specializations of Civil Engineering, viz. Structural, Geotechnical, Water Resources and Hydraulics, Environmental, and Transportation Systems. Multiple choices in Electives provide the students opportunity to pursue their interests. We concentrate on quantitative analytical approaches and development and the use of appropriate tools and technology. Emphasis is laid on innovation and entrepreneurial skill development.
