As per MHRD Innovation Cell (MIC) that Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) for NIT Arunachal Pradesh was formed as per the prescribed format by MIC under the Presidentship of Dr. Mainak Mallik (Director Representative) as institution, we are committed to supporting activities suggested by MIC as per the prescribed schedule and timelines. We have received four stars ranking for the session of 2018-19.

  • Conducted workshop/lectures for the session 2018-19:
  1. Half-day workshop on Cognitive Skills, Design Thinking and Critical thinking” at Seminar Hall, NIT Arunachal Pradesh was conducted on 13th Nov., 2018 from 10AM-1PM.
  2. Institute Innovation Cell (IIC) under TEQIP-III, Startup Cell: Prakousal, NIT Arunachal Pradesh organized a ONE DAY (10:30 AM to 03:30 PM) Workshop on Intellectual Property Right (IPR) on Thursday, the 10th January 2019,  for the Students and Faculty Members
  3. “Creative Entrepreneurship Lecture” for students conducted by IICs and Start-up Cell on 25th January 2019 from 2PM to 4PM.

As per MHRD Innovation Cell (MIC) that Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC2.0) for NIT Arunachal Pradesh is formed as per the prescribed format by MIC under the Presidentship of Prof. P. K.   • Conducted workshop/lectures for the session 2019-20:
  1. My Story - Entrepreneur’s Life & Crossroad – Motivational Speak - To be Share by Entrepreneurs was held on 30th September 2019 from 1PM to 2PM at Auditorium, NIT-AP by our Alumni
  2. Idea Competition event at Auditorium, NIT Arunachal Pradesh conducted on 30th September 2019 from 9 AM-5 PM. In the first phase, Idea pitching event for our B. Tech and M.Tech Students in our Campus and total 17th groups of more than 30 students have participated in this event, which was held on 30th Sept.2019. From this idea pitching event, we have selected the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd position groups and they had awarded by IIC and NITAP.
  3. Idea Generation and Creative Thinking” and “Awareness Programme on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)” and Idea Competition at Auditorium, NIT Arunachal Pradesh was held on 30th September 2019 from 9 AM-5 PM.
  4. Students internship for November-December, 2019: In this duration 25/11/2019 until 01/01/2020, We had been assigned to all students for doing their internship at any of the below-listed companies' name (1)  Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Barauni Refinery,(2) Central Tool Room & Training Center, (3) Zeetron Networks Pvt Ltd., (4) ONGC Mumbai, (5) Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd, (6) National Highway Authority of India, (7) Purvanchal Vidyut Vitaran Nigam, (8) Mechanical Worksop, N. E. Railway Gorakhpur, (9) Kali Sindh Thermal Power Project, Jhalawar, (10) Uttar Pradesh Bridge Construction, etc.  to complete their internship.

More than 100 students from seven branches (ME, CE, ECE, CHE, EE, CSE and BioTech) have been completed their internship at different government and Private centers/sectors and submitted their reports accordingly.

  1. Arunachal Hackathon2020:

February 14th,2020, an Arunachal Hackathon2020 were focusing on six major areas are:1. Agriculture & Rural Development, 2. Renewable Energy, 3. E-waste Management, 4. Local Healthcare and Hygiene, 5. Robotics and Drones, 6. Efficient E-Vehicles and others. The event was organized by Startup Cell: Prakousol and Institute Innovation Council at TELC auditorium, NIT Arunachal Pradesh sponsored by TEQIP-III.

The majority of participants of the Hackathon20 were 3rdyear students from our institute and the nearby schools and colleges. As part of our recent hackathon, a series of questions were asked to participants by our six member’s judge panel. The questions and answers give some useful insight into the main issues judges are trying to address and my thoughts on how participants can tackle those issues.

We had a fantastic turn out for our Arunachal hackathon20 – 35 people and 12 teams competed for our local prizes (worth of 15,000/- 1st, 10,000/- 2nd, 5,000/- 3rd to two groups and 2,000/- Consolation prize to three groups).

  1. Halfday Lecture /Interaction Session on “How to plan for Start-up and legal and Ethical Steps” Organized by IICs and Startup Cell on 6th March, 2020 started at 10AM-1PM.

        1. 21 DAY ONLINE INDUCTION PROGRAM FOR FIRST YEAR B.TECH 2020-21 BATCH

National Institute of Technology Arunachal Pradesh organized 21 DAY ONLINE INDUCTION PROGRAM FOR FIRST YEAR B.TECH 2020-21 BATCH for 173 students Sponsored by TEQIP-III from 2nd December to 24th December 2020 in three phases i.e. Initial phase, Regular phase and Closing phase. Initial phases were started with an inauguration program with institute/departmental orientation program on the first day, and then regular phase started from 3rd December with many sessions and activities of different field of domain.  During the 21 day induction program, there were 33 experts (28 external experts and 5 internal experts). Activities such as SELP-Students Excellent & Learning Program for 3 batches of 60 students each from VVKI Art of Living Bangalore, EBSB videos and 20 days of yoga along with motivational/leadership/inspirational / entrepreneurship/personal branding/startup story/success story/The Self-Undertanding who am I?/ The power of beliefs in yourself etc were also conducted during the regular phase of 21 Day induction program. Also sessions on universal human values with personality testing and communication skills for all first year the students 2020 batch were conducted. There was also National Induction program by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar an interactive session with first year students for shaping their future and progress in life. Besides, NIT Mizoram, Saint Claret College, Ziro and Dhemaji Polytechnic college students participated in the Induction Program during yoga sessions for 20 days and others sessions also. Lastly 21 day Induction program in the closing phase, it was addressed by Prof. Pinakeswar Mahanta Director NIT Arunachal Pradesh during the valedictory function and completed with grand success. 

        1. Popular Lecture Series on National Education Policy2020 organized a one-day National level webinar on National Education Policy 2020 – A Review on 17th November 2020. The main objective of this webinar was to create awareness about the newly launched National Education Policy - 2020 amongst teachers, students, officials, and other stakeholders in the higher education system. The key speaker for the webinar was Prof. Vasudha Kamat, Member, National Education Policy, Draft Committee, GoI.

Prof. Kamat shared the vision for Higher Education in India – 2020 with a focus on three main elements i.e. Students enrolling in the Higher Education System Holistic and Multidisciplinary Education and Educational Technology, and Online Education. He also shed light on the current state of the Learning Crisis, which gave way to the creation of this new structure i.e., it replaced the 10+2 with 4+3+3+2+3.

Around 120 participants from various educational institutions and corporate sectors across the nation participated in this webinar.

        1. 5 Day Online Workshop on ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND STARTUP AS A CAREER OPPORTUNITY sponsored by TEQIP-III and organized by IIC-Institute Innovation Cell/Startup Cell NIT Arunachal Pradesh  from 18-22  January 2021 through Cisco Webex. The program was conducted for promotion of startup and entrepreneurship among the students and faculty and also for awareness and understanding the basics leading to entrepreneurship mindsets through activity based learning . Learning by do it yourself is one of the concept emphasised in this workshop and awareness and understand the prevailing situation around us through intellectual property rights/innovation/design thinking. The program was inaugurated by the Director, Professor Pinakeswar Mahanta NIT, Arunachal Pradesh and Mr.Gautam Huidrom Asst. Professor and Coodinator EDC RGU and Mr. Siddartha Devnath Scientist PIC Guwahati  along with faculty members and students of different academic  institutions including NIT Arunachal Pradesh across 22 states. The inauguration cum session was followed sessions till 22nd January 2021.
        2. Five Days Online Workshop on “Entrepreneurship & Regional Development” 22nd February 2021 to 26th February 2021.

Entrepreneurship and Regional Development is considered as one of the key factors for the nation’s development and progress. It is a globally oriented activity which makes us creative with innovation of new ideas or renovations of business ideas available already or in practice. The growth of entrepreneurship improves the standard of living of people in the various regions of the country. In this workshop a total number of 743 participants registered for this workshop.

        1. Webinar on Intellectual property rights and IP management for startups was jointly organized by NIT, AP and SCC, Ziro on 5-6th March 2021. A webinar titled ‘Intellectual property rights and IP management for startups’ was organized by National Institute of Technology, Arunachal Pradesh and Saint Claret College, Ziro from 5-6th March, 2021. The event was an outcome of MoU between both the institutes. Almost 60 students attended both the sessions and they were given E-certificate for attending the sessions. All the participants actively participated throughout the session and gathered potential knowledge.
        2. Five Days Online Workshop on Technological Innovation of Toys: Tech Toy 2021(8-12 March, 2020) The online workshop on “TechToy2021” was held under the Prakousol& IIC – Institute Innovation Council, National Institute of Technology Arunachal Pradesh,Sponsored by TEQIP. It was inaugurated by Prof. P.K. Mohata, Director, NIT, Arunachal Pradesh through online. This program was organized from the 8th to 12th March 2021, invited all students from all over the nation to attend and to listen to experts lecture on Toys from different sectors, and compete for toy design competition by displaying their innovation in toy technology. A total of 23 teams competed in two categories, Home Toys open fo all both technical and nontechnical students/persons and Smart Toys open for only technical persons from UG/PG/PhD programs.

Through this workshop and competition, we have tried to encourage Indians to design toy based on waste materials and electronics items in a fun, interactive way.

        1. Popular Lecture Series on Start-up & Innovation on Toys (30 th March, 2020, 11AM onwards)

Our 1st lecture given by very youngest person, Mr. Susant Pattnaik is one such young lad who hails from Bhubaneswar, Odisha who is a serial inventor, serial entrepreneur, inspirational/ motivational speaker and has been awarded the President’s Award six times. He is a young lad who aspires youth and is a person who proved that dreams have no age bar and can be fulfilled the moment you decide to pull up your shoes.He has become the youngest speaker in TEDx.Pattnaik’s areas of interest are scientific innovations and research.

He has been appreciated by numerous worthy personalities, like the Former President of India H.E. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam via NIF at IIM Ahmadabad in 2009 as the best invention of the year, the Former President of India H.H.Smt PratibhaPatil, The President of India H.E.Shri Pranab Mukherjee, Former DG of CSIR Dr R A Mashelkar, Dr Sam Pitroda, Mr James Cameron and many others. Organisations such as MIT Technology Review published his technology at a tender age of 17 and others like NASA, Intel, NIF etc have appreciated and valued him.

During the lecture, he talks about his experience on the innovation road map and his inventions. His lecture attended more than 45 students/faculty members to motivated their minds.

        1. Toycathon 2021, organized by Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell, Govt. of India through digital platform between 22-24 June 2021 where National Institute of Technology Arunachal Pradesh is the  one of Nodal Centre.

National Institute of Technology Arunachal Pradesh, has been selected by MIC/AICTE for hosting Toycathon 2021 Grand Finale, an event conducted by Govt. of India to promote indigenous toy industry. Around 21 teams from different parts of India have confirmed their participation for Digital Toycathon. Now only Digital Hackathon is being conducted from 22nd June 2021 to 24th June 2021 due to existing Covid 19 pandemic.

Aim of the Start-up Cell and Innovation Centre:

  • To develop entrepreneurial skills among students and faculties through hands-on/do-it-yourself activities.
  • To enhance in-house competency development to serve potential and early-stage entrepreneurs and student innovators at the institute.
  • To strengthen the inter-departmental and inter-institutional linkage, incubators, and other ecosystem enablers at different levels.
  • To provide facilities to work with the latest technologies and tools- electronics, sensors, open-source micro-controller boards, 3D printers, mechanical tools etc., to create technology innovations for applications in multiple sensors including medical energy, health, conservation of energy and natural resource etc.
  • To create opportunities for the young students to work and learn in a flexible environment leading to participation in multiple regional and national level competitions and exhibitions at periodic intervals.
  • To enable and motivate the students to innovate and do things on their own and to move India forward.
